The purpose of this study was to explore the picture story books and emotion education on early childhood. The subjects were all 5 years old kindergarten children of elementary school from the east part of Taiwan. The researcher surveyed several questions during researching including 1.What are curriculum design and teaching methods on emotion education of early childhood by the picture story books teaching? 2. What are the children response on the teaching process of emotion education by using picture story books? This study used the method of coordinating research. The data gathered from the records of teaching, teaching discussing records and documentary information. The conclusions of this study are: 1. The teaching process of picture story books about emotion education on early childhood could be divided into 3 stages including teaching plan, teaching performance and evaluation of teaching. On the teaching plan stage, The researcher gathered seven kinds of emotion information and thirteen books. It consists of five negative emotions(fear, missing, anger, jealousness and sadness)and two positive emotions(concern and confidence). In general, every teaching introduced one emotion by using two books to lead the children understanding the proper present of emotion. On the teaching performance stage, the researcher designed the teaching plan about these two series of picture story books teaching first, and discussed and revised them with coordinating research teacher and then carried out to teach according to the revised edition. On the evaluation of teaching stage, the evaluation was oriented by process. The multi- evaluation consists of the recognition of emotion, learning attitude, learning lists and works from creation of children. 2. There were 4 parts on the response of children on emotion education by the picture story books. They were concentrating on story content, involving in expanding activity, daring to present their own feelings and excepting the proceeding of story. At last, the researcher proposed some suggestions on the practical teaching for the teachers of kindergarten.
