The study is intended to investigate the current situation of principals’ transformational leadership and teachers learning community in elementary schools, in Taoyuan County, Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City and Miaoli County. The main purposes of this study are as follows. First, to investigate the differences in principals’ transformational leadership and teachers’ professional learning community based on different background variables. Second, to investigate the relationship between principals’transformational leadership and teachers’ professional learning community.Third, to investigate the predictability of principals’ transformational leadership and teachers’ professional learning community. In order to understand the content of transformational leadership and teachers’ professional learning community in elementary schools, implementation difficulties and solutions, literature review and a questionnaire survey were conducted in this study.The subjects were education staff in elementary schools in Taoyuan County, Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City and Miaoli County with different background variables. There are 712 questionnaires were distributed and 639 were retrieved, among which 607 questionnaires were valid with the response rate of 85%. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the collected data.The results of the study were as follows: 1. The perception of education staff in elementary schools toward theprincipals’ transformational leadershipis above the average. 2.The perception of education staff in elementary schools toward teachers learning community is above the average. 3.There were significant differences in elementary school teachers’ perceptions toward principals’ transformational leadership based on gender, office positions,school districts,school sizes, and school historys.However, there were not any significant differences, based on staff’s degree, age, and service years. 4. On different background variables,there were not significant differences in elementary school teachers’ perceptions towardteachers’ professional learning community. 5. Elementary school principals’ transformational leadership was significantly related to teachers’ professional learning community. 6. Elementary school principals’ transformational leadership is a strong predictor of teachers’ professional learning community. Finally, suggestions based on the above research findings and conclusion were presented for educational administration authorities, school administration managers, and the further advanced studies.
