The purpose of the study was to explore a) the demographic and golfing behavior characteristics of Orient Golf Club members, b) membership purchasing motive, c) membership investment concerns, and d) members'' satisfaction toward service quality provided by the Club. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire is composed of four kinds of surveys: membership purchasing motive, membership investment analysis, members'' service satisfaction and members'' demographic information. The data collected from the surveyed members were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA and LSD method, etc. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn. A. Demographic and golfing behavior characteristics: The majority of the club members are male, aged between 41 to 50 years old, and are college/university graduates or above. 90% of the members are married. Most of them are entrepreneurs. Members'' average annual incomes are very high. The majority of the members'' annual incomes are over ten million NT Dollars, and followed by members with annual incomes of three to five million NT Dollars. A large number of the members have been playing golf for over 6 to 10 years, with handicap around 18 to 27. Most of them are on golf team, and they play golf averagely two times per week. B. Membership Purchasing Motive: The main motive for purchasing membership is for exercise and recreation purposes. The factor of "investment purpose" accounts for the least important motive. Membership purchasing decision is not varied by such factors as sex, marital status, profession, household annual income, golf playing years, handicap and average golfing times, etc. Rather, the purchasing decision is varied by age, education level and whether they are on any golf team. C. Membership Investment Concerns In the aspect of "Return & Risk", most members consider the membership investment return rate is not high, and the liquidity is not good. Regarding membership "Investment Strategy", the survey shows members will cash in profits when membership return rate becomes high. As for "Membership Price Deciding Factors", members consider management quality of the golf club as the most important factor. Whereas, whether the golf course is designed by worldwide famous designer is not deemed as important. D. Members'' Service Satisfaction Members of Orient Golf Club are most satisfied with the fine management quality provided by the Club. The overall average satisfaction score surveyed is 4.248. It shows great satisfaction among most of its members toward the service quality provided, which is not varied by sex, age, marital status, education level, profession, average annual income, golf playing years, handicap number and whether on golf team or not. Whereas, the number of times member playing golf in the club affects the satisfaction level of its members.
