一般以視障者審美價值觀為議題的研究，趨向於將視障者視為單方面接受藝術作品訊息的被動角色，而非獨立透過日常生活中藝術實踐過程；例如室內設計或是服裝設計，表達個人想法的主動角色。本研究採取與其他視障者藝術欣賞，或是強調改善視障者獨立性、與安全性的視障者日常生活機能性研究議題相反的觀點，探討視障者在藝術實踐活動中展現主動角色的特質。視障者在日常生活中藝術實踐的審美價值觀呈現出兩個特殊性：第一、視障者不僅考慮機能性與非視覺感官性的需求，同時也會考慮視覺感官性的心理層面需求。第二、視障者透過聽覺資訊，即語言，建構出與明眼人相同的一般性審美知識與審美價值觀。

The previous studies regarding the issue of the aesthetic value judgments of people with visual impairments have tended to consider people with visual impairments as able only to passively accept information from works of art, rather than as able to actively and independently express themselves through aesthetic application in daily life, such as interior design or garment design. In contrast to previous studies on aesthetic appreciation or functionality, which tried to improve the independence and safety of people who are visually impaired, this thesis is based on the proposition that people with visual impairments can play an active role in aesthetic application. The research reveals two characteristics of the aesthetic value judgments of people with visual impairments in aesthetic application: First, people with visual impairments not only consider the functionality of non-visual sensory perception but also regard visual sensory perceptional requirements. Second, people with visual impairments understand the world through auditory information, or language, and use the resulting knowledge to form aesthetic value judgments similar to those of people who are sighted.
