LED is replacing the conventional lighting devices due to its dominant characteristics of low-energy consuming and long-life time. To increase the overall performances of a LED lighting module, a single-stage flyback converter was employed to implement the driving of the LED, and the LED driver has the characteristics of high power factor and high efficiency. In this thesis, a practical case was used as an example, the main circuit elements were designed according to the given specifications. Then, the circuit simulation tool, IsSpice Ver 8.1.11 , was used to identify the performance and feasibility of the driver. After the simulation, a circuit prototype was built. The prototype uses IC L6561 to complete the discontinuous operation mode with high power factor. Test results illustrate that the PF and efficiency are 0.97 and 85.9% respectively; besides, the total harmonic distortion factor of the input current is 19.2%. These results comply with the specified objects; therefore, the circuit construction and the control mode of the prototype can be a valuable example for the cooperative enterprise to produce the LED lighting device in the future.
