The purpose of this study is to examine the mechanism of adoptive intentions by who with different achievement goal patterns would influence choices of stress-coping strategies. Specifically, the author examined how three achievement goal patterns (mastery goal pattern, performance-approach goal pattern, and performance-avoiding goal pattern) derived from goal orientation theory influenced adoptive intentions of stress-coping strategies through both active procrastination and passive procrastination. Particularly, procrastination is seen as an important aspect of the path through goal orientation to stress-coping strategy.
