There still exist lots of problems on network, for instance, the traffic jam of network. The demand for QoS is the key point, whereas different users may need different QoS constraints. To let the presentations can be smooth displayed and meet the users'' requirements, it is necessary to add some new settings into the existed temporal specifications of multimedia presentation. Such that authors can use these settings to specify their required QoS.
On market, there are two kinds of multimedia presentation systems, of which one is played on one single computer and the other is played on network. The later means that users must use some software to author media objects, design the schedules of presentations, upload them to servers, and then plug in or download some programs to play the presentations. Such a presentation system is inconvenient to author and play presentations. So we propose the architecture of network multimedia presentation systems.
In the thesis, we also propose a set of temporal specifications to let users specify the QoS and the schedules of presentations conveniently and execute the JAVA applets implemented with our display algorithm in the clients, then the expected QoS can be achieved.
