In this thesis, we will propose a method, the SBR-image method, tosimulate the sound wave propagation in a large empty room. With this method, weshoot ray tubes from a sound source until it hits a wall which we assume to bea rigid wall for simplicity. According to the law of reflection, we can tracethe ray tube in its new direction towards the next wall. In every bounce, wehave to examine whether the receiver is in the ray tube. If the ray tube hitthe receiver, there is a ray corresponding to a specific image going to thereceiver. As soon as the path length of the ray tube has exceeded over aprescribed value, we stop tracing that ray tube, and start to trace another raytube. This procedure is repeated until all of the ray tubes have been traced.By superposition, we can calculate the contribution of every equivalent soundsource individually. By this method, we computed the distribution of soundpressure in different kinds of buildings. The results are rather satisfactory.
