這篇論文旨在探討電影中譯之語意研究。基於語言普遍性與語言相對性的關念‚我們使用劉宓慶(1993;1997)與陳定安(1999)的理論去調查語料。 再者‚對於此論文搜集資料的地點和方式有國家電影資料館、相關的網站、 書籍、 文章。
在探討之後‚我們發現到英文與中文卻有其語意關係。再者‚電影中譯時也有其規則可循。除此之外‚針對本篇中英之不同處在於中譯時‚英文冠詞與介係詞的省譯而語意不變。最後‚我們發現到本篇語料符合劉宓慶(1993)對於語言成分詞及詞組是否可實現完全對應的統計。

This study aims at probing the semantic consideration of Chinese translation of English movie names. Based on linguistic universality and linguistic relativity, we will make use of the theories of Liou (1993; 1997) and Chen (1999) to investigate the language data. In addition, there are three ways of collecting data for this thesis: first, national movie library; second, movie database from web; third, some books or articles related to our topic.
After researching, we find out that English and Chinese indeed have the semantic relationship. In addition, after analyzing the semantic nature of those principles of translation that applies to English movie names, Chinese translation of English movie names has rules to follow. Furthermore, the distinction between English and Chinese in this study is that English movie titles tend to omit the article (i.e. “a”,”an”, and “the”), and the preposition restricted to “in”, “of”, “on”, “for”, and “by” when translated into Chinese. Moreover, according to the statistic stated by Liou (1993), the distribution of language constituents of full equivalence, partial equivalence and none equivalence is identical with what Liou (1993) claims.
