Abstract Taiwan is a sea-island nation with warm and humid climate environment, which is very favorable for the growths of microbe and bioaerosols. In Taiwan, the incidence rates of many related diseases, including the respiratory tract allergy, are even higher than that of the countries in the Frigid Zone. Related literature surveys show that Americans spend 87.2% of their time in the so-called indoor environment, 7.2% on traffic vehicles and only 5.6% on activities in outdoor environment (Lance, 1996). Therefore, more and more people begin to pay attention to the indoor air quality (IAQ). On December 30, 2005, the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of Executive Yuan released the suggestion value of bioaerosols for the biological pollution of indoor air quality. But there is no mandatory requirement, the people thus need to take care of themselves when in public places. This study only takes the said library as an example and wishes to obtain precise numerical values through the collecting methods and techniques of bioaerosols suggested by the EPA. Besides, it explores the relevance between the total bacterial count of bioaerosols and the environment and conducts comparative analyses. This study paper is divided into 5 chapters as shown below: Chapter 1 Introduction This chapter mainly introduces the motivation, objective, scope, content, procedure methods and flow as well as the expected results of this study. Chapter 2 Literature Exploration This chapter mainly describes the study’s related literatures, theories, regulations and the suggestion value as well as the potential hazards to human body due to over-high values. Chapter 3 Real Examples Survey By real examples, this chapter mainly introduces the survey architecture and the survey plan to illustrate the collecting methods and techniques collection for bioaerosols suggested by the EPA, and the present status survey for the library as well as the result analysis of the questionnaire survey. Chapter 4 Relationship and its Degree between the Total Bacterial Count of Bioaerosols and the IAQ. This chapter takes the library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan County Government as an example to know the library’s environmental characteristics, and collects the viable bacteria counts of the bioaerosols, conducts comparative analyses with the space area and the number of people used, as well as the temperature, humidity and different time. Besides, it points out the relationship and its degree between the total bacterial count of bioaerosols and the IAQ. Chapter 5 Conclusions and Suggestions Finally, this paper presents its conclusions and suggestions, wishing the people to understand the importance of the IAQ, and wishing related units can self-manage the IAQ to really meet public health security standards.
