隧道工程的執行，有賴於地質資料做為工法或是支撐的選擇依據，因此地質資料的正確性直接影響了工程的進度以及安全。由於現行對隧道沿線地質的蒐集方式，常礙於時間與金錢因素，往往無法提供足夠詳細的地質資訊，而造成工程的延宕或災害，因此需要一個快速、方便、經濟的地質資料蒐集方法。透地雷達簡稱GPR，是利用電磁波碰到介質不連續處時所發生的反射現象，做為偵測不連續處位置的工具，由於施測簡便、快速，且不會造成待測物任何的破壞，故廣泛運用於工程中。
本研究主要模擬以透地雷達做為隧道開挖面前方地質資料蒐集的工具，藉由震測法中速度分析的理論，實際應用於透地雷達施測，以進一步找出地層存在的位置，並以三維曲面顯示出地層特徵情況。之後，再分析同一特徵在透地雷達中，與在照片影像中兩者間的關聯，試圖找出一個合理的整合模式，將兩特徵整合為一個涵蓋資訊更豐富的地質資料，以便提供一更完備的地質資訊，做為隧道工程執行之參考。

When executing a tunnel project, the decisions of construction methods and supporting systems depend on the information of geological situations front of tunnel excavation faces. Hence, the accuracy of the geological information will directly affect the safety and schedule of the construction. However, due to the time and cost constraints, some of the current methods may not obtain sufficient geological information, which may incur delay or hazard during the excavation. A convenient, effective collection method of the geological data is required. Ground Penetration Radar system (GPR) is used to probe the discontinuity position by the reflection of the electromagnetic wave on the discontinuous interfaces. GPR is widely used in engineering for its simplicity, efficiency and non-destructive to objects.
This study presents an exploratory study of GPR to collect geological data in front of tunnel excavation faces. Based upon the velocity analysis of seismic measurement method, GPR is used to find out geological profiles and their positions. Interfaces of geological profiles are demonstrated by a 3-D curved surface. After that, the common characteristics found in both the GPR subsurface profiles and images are integrated and analyzed their relationships. The information about the relationship provides more useful insight, which is referential to the tunnel engineering.
