In this paper, we discuss the effects of the training of the mind mapping for the sixth-grade students in elementary school to understand the academic works of the literature course. Further, the associative term tools are used to help the students to draw the meaningful mind map. By comparing the academic performances of students before and after training, this paper aims to discuss the following research topics: (1) the differences of the academic performances between the students with or without the training of mind mapping, and (2) Whether can the students accomplish a meaningful mind map easier with the helps of the associative term tools? 40 students of the elementary school participated and were grouped in this research. The differences among these experimental groups will be further analyzed and evaluated according to the midterm performances of the literature course in the second semester. The results show that the students with the training of the mind mapping can get better scores for the literature course. And the associative term tools can help the students in elementary school to list the keywords for completing the meaningful mind maps.
