Working in the special education field is an important decision changing my life. Desiring to provide a better quality of teaching is my motivation of the pursuit of professional growth. This research was based on the researcher’s narrative story of working experience in the special education field after graduating from the university. In the research, a university graduate, who wasn’t sure about the direction of life at the beginning, found the new goal and the meaning of life because of the help from the people working or living with her. The process of finding and achieving the goal may be hard. However, it was these obstacles that motivated the researcher to improve the professional ability and to confirm the researcher’s determination of getting close to the goal. Now, it was only the beginning of the researcher’s story of being a special educator in remote areas. It is a long road in the future. This research reminded the researcher to keep the original motivation of being a special education teacher in mind, to insist on the right direction of life and to move forward bravely. The results of the research are as follows: (1) Lacking teaching experience is the problem that the researcher has to overcome. (2) The researcher needs to improve the ability of communication and coordination. Using the power of teamwork is able to accelerate the researcher’s professional growth. (3) The distribution of educational resources is still the problem in remote areas. (4) There is no “best” teaching, only the “suitable” teaching.
