本研究的主要目的在於檢驗「疾病管理與復元方案」團體介入能否促進精神障礙者在疾病管理與復元之效能。本研究依據Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration（SAMHSA）的精神健康照護的證據醫學信念所編撰之團體方案內容，以四十位社區復健中心的精神分裂病患者為研究樣本
，採用「等組前後測之準實驗設計」分為實驗組與控制組來進行研究，並綜合量化及質性資料，分析討論，獲得研究結果如下：

1. 「疾病管理和復元」團體介入對精神障礙者「疾病管理」之成效：復元團體方案對於精神病患之「疾病管理」的成效，不管是由個管師的觀察或是精神障礙者本身都反應出該團體方案是能夠提升患者的「病識感」，對自身所罹患的精神疾病有更多的瞭解和掌握，且能夠加強成員自我的疾病管理和復元之能力。
2. 「疾病管理和復元」團體介入對精神障礙者「主觀復元」之成效：在生活品質分量表中的「生理」、「心理」、「信仰」及「生活品質總分」是達組間統計之差異，並且追蹤後測之比較也達統計之顯著性，意味著團體對於生活品質提升有持續性之效果。實驗組成員在精神復元的「跨越障礙」、「學習和自我再定義」、「全面健康」、「新潛能」等個面向後測都比前測提升。但令人擔憂的是，兩個月後的追蹤後測結果卻發現，這樣的成效持續性並不佳，所有面向原本提升的數據全都往下掉，甚至還低於前測之得分，顯示出團體成員在未獲持續性的支持時，原本復元成效是無法維持。
3. 「疾病管理和復元」團體介入對精神障礙者「客觀復元」之成效：個管師填寫「社會功能他評」部分，實驗組組內前、後測差異比較，則發現其在分量表「社交退縮」和「社會功能量表總分」是達到統計顯著性，顯示出團體介入後實驗組的個管師是有看到團體成員社會功能的增長。

經過上述研究歷程，茲歸納分析結果提出建議如下：「疾病管理和復元團體」對精神障礙者在疾病管理與復元上皆有明顯的成效。心理健康專業應努力設計量身訂做的介入方式，以補償個案的缺損並利用其長處。藥物與心理社會治療適當的結合，建立對核心症狀、社交損害與角色功能、提昇復元的信念及希望，可降低精神分裂病所帶來的沉重負擔，並在正向功能與整體幸福感上的改善。

The aim of this research is to examine whether group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery Program” promotes the efficacy of “illness management and recovery” in patients with mental illness. This study is based on the contents of group program compiled by principles of evidence-based medicine of Mental Health Care of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration（SAMHSA）- we selected 40 patients diagnosed with Schizophrenia from Community Rehabilitation Center and sorted them out experimental group and control group using “Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Designs” and obtain the following results were obtained by analyzing the data with qualitative and quantitative methods:
1.The effect of the group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery Program” on the “illness management” of patients with mental illness: Both the observation of the case manager and the feedback of the patients with mental illness reflect that group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery Program” can promote the subjects’ “insight”, and strengthen their illness management and recovery ability.
2.The effect of group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery Program” on the “subjective recovery” of patients with mental illness: The data from quality of life scale was measured in terms of the following categories: “physiological”,”psychological”, ”believes/ religions” and “Total sum on quality of life”, and the data from follow-up reach significant difference between the two group. This study implies that group intervention can effective and continuous to promote quality of life. The performance at posttest, in terms of “overcoming obstacles ”, “learning and self-redefining ”, “comprehensive health”, “new potentials” of members of control group have much higher score compared with pretest score. However, at two month follow-up post the intervention, their scores listed above all dropped drastically on statistic scale. Some results even showed drop lower than the previous ones. This shows that members without continuous support cannot maintain the recovery they already attained.
3.The effect of group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery Program” on the “objective recovery” of patients with mental illness: After the case managers fill out in the part “Preceptor Evaluation of Social Function”, we compared the pretest and posttest results of the scales in the experimental group. The results of the scales in terms of “Social Withdrawal” and “Total/sum of Social function Scale” reached statistical significant difference. This shows that the case managers see improvements in social function in the members of the experimental group.

Through the above course of study, we make the following recommendations after analyzed the study results and induction of the results of analysis: Group intervention of “Illness Management and Recovery” was effective in both illness management and recovery. Psychiatric health care professions should try to design methods of interventions which strengthen the client’s strengths and minimize the weakness. Appropriate combination of medication and psychosocial therapy can bring hope to and build up confidence in illness recovery, core symptoms, defects in social interaction, social role function and reduce the burden of schizophrenia. And furthermore, improve on positive function and improvement of whole the feeling of happiness.
