圖書品質與讀者要求, 一直是圖書選擇哲學中的兩大取向, 本研究希望藉
由探討影響上述取向的因素, 來透視公共圖書館員面臨圖書選擇時的考
量. 本研究為一探索性研究,以大台北地區22所公共圖書館選擇人員
為研究對象, 進行深入的訪談, 旨在由圖書選擇人員的角度來探討影響其
日常選擇工作進行的因素, 分別為: (1)圖書館因素(選書原則與經費),
(2)圖書館員因素(館員人口變項與圖書選擇態度), (3)媒體利用因素(選
書工具與管道), (4)社區活動因素(圖書館在社區之定位及壓力團體); 藉
以瞭解公共圖書館在社區中的角色定位, 是否與圖書選擇工作相呼應.
結果顯示: (1)缺乏書面選書政策, 實際選擇工作時間短; (2)圖書選擇操
控在少數館員手中, 且多以新書為主要依據; (3)選書管道多為平面式的
紙本資料, 來源多仰賴出版商; (4)和大眾傳播媒體間呈對立現象. 此
外, 圖書品質與讀者要求取向二者差異會顯現在下列因素中:"專業程度",
"與讀者接觸頻率", "教育程度", "認同之作品類型", "漫畫之選擇立
場", "選書比重"以及"圖書館功能定位". 由研究中發現, 公共圖書
館的選擇取向隨著社會的需求, 已逐漸轉變為重"休閒, 娛樂"的走向, 這
也是重視圖書館教育功能學者所應正視的問題.

Two main considerations of book acquisition include quality-
driven and demand-driven. This thesis is aim to see the public
librarians'' book acquisition attitudes through the investigation
of factors which affect the two main book selection
considerations mentioned above. The investigation coverage
of this thesis includes twenty two public acquisition librarians
in Taipei. Through deeply interview, we wish to find out the
factors that affect book acquisition librarians'' attitudes from
their view points. Those factors consist of (1)library factors
(book selection principle and budget), (2)librarian factors
(librarians'' population variation and book selection attitude),
(3)media factors (the tools and channels of book selection) and
(4)community activity factors (the role of public library in
community and the pressure groups). Furthermore, this thesis
also investigates the connection between book selection attitude
and the community role of public library. From the research
results, we conclude that: (1)In case of lacking written book
selection policies; (2)the time-expense of book selection is
quite short and mainly controlled by few book selection
librarians; (3)the main channels of book selection are from
paper informations which offered by publishers; (4)the book
selection attitude is always contrast to the public media.
the difference between quality-driven and demand-driven will be
seen from the professional train, the contact frequency with
readers, the education level of librarians, the accepted
publication types, the comic selection attitude, the book
selection attitude and the library function role in the
community. The tendency of book selection of the public
library is tend to the satisfaction of recreation under the
society requirements, which should be noticed by the library
education function researchers.
