The historical sites “Flood Conduit Station, Liougong Aqueduct” where located in Xindian district, New Taipei city which was built in Qing dynasty, and it was the most important infrastructure which use to irrigate water for agriculture.
It has suffered from landslide and collapse for hundreds of years. The authority concern were eventually make it a municipal Historic site after its collapse on the 2002 typhoon disaster, but still, the lack of maintenance and protection make the historical site deal with the serious weathering and cracking these years.
In recent years, there still a controversy on the argument of its title naming, since the problem and the argument can be trace from the coexistence of the issues between naming idea and the heritage conservation idea. Therefore the author is hereby to clarify its dispute with the current condition of maintenance as academic research.
According to the historical literatures and the water ditch charts with the analysis and comparison. The most important is that not only Liougong but different people dug the “Flood Conduit Station, Liougong Aqueduct” after the research and people need to know the truth of the history.
However, the author applied for entering the site several times from management to survey the cracking situation. Through the interviews from relevant people and local residents, the author investigates the way how government process current situation.
Due to the temple stands upon the history sites, the government and relevant department could not attribute the responsibility for the repair expense that leads to the history sites irreparable. From the content of interview, the relevant people, temple’s holder and the residents all worry about the collapse of history sites caused by natural disaster and hope the government could solve the repair problem as soon as possible to avoid the unnecessary danger.
