本創作是由胡適文選（1985）提出對挪威劇作家易卜生以寫實主義所撰寫之劇本，而詮釋出的〈易卜生主義〉做為基礎，將易卜生對於社會批判風格之劇作所延伸出的背景意義加以論述，再用好萊塢分類的愛情類型電影加以印證。由此論證後轉換而撰寫成劇本，再以古典好萊塢電影敘事風格拍攝，成為具有戲劇理論架構的電影創作。

文本中將先論述其理論對中國當代社會的影響，再藉由類型電影來加以論證與其劇本觀點相同處。之後根據探討的故事類型，用集合式的劇情短片之表現形式與敘事手法，透過劇中當代都會人的觀點，以及劇中人物對於情愛關係的糾葛，運用鏡頭語言和場面調度等技巧所產生戲劇化的影像形式與風格，滿足當代閱聽眾欣賞電影最基本的娛樂功能；並企圖將影片背景意義下對於道德的解讀，為〈易卜生主義〉做影像式的解讀與詮釋。

無論是偏向娛樂價值的商業電影，或是純粹導演創作的藝術電影，其幕後均有記錄、反思當代社會價值的意涵功能。讓導演思維透過映像美學來置入、詮釋，使閱聽眾能夠探索、窺究影片背景故事深層意義所要傳達的哲學意涵，也為當代社會做時代性的觀察記錄，試圖讓電影藝術跟當代社會能產生關連性的責任與意義。
