In recent years, as the aging population increasing, the degradation of the body functions results in more patients with chronic diseases and increases the frequency of taking medicines. Though the verbal instructions are given by the medical staffs or caregivers, various issues are arose due to a lot of the patients still can’t take medicines on time with the exact amounts and kinds. Many types of pill-boxes are available in the market, but the design of those pill-boxes are for reminding purpose only and to prevent the patients from forgetting and/or repeating to take medicine. As to how to ensure to dispense and take medicines correctly, it is still an unsolved issue but worth to study. In this study, a design called " On the Mechanism Design of An Automatic Medicine Pill Classifier " used to solve the issue mentioned above. This design contains the body of the pill box, the mechanism of the classifier, and rotating axis with several independent and portable pill-boxes. The size of the dispensing tube is adjustable according to the size of the pill and the timing to take medicine by scanning the information on the medicine bag. After all the pills are loaded into the dispenser, the pills will drop, one at a time using the reciprocal dispensing mechanism, into each individual box for the purpose of multiple meals per day. The pill-boxes are removable after the distribution is completed in the hospital such that the patients can easily and properly to take medicines and achieve the expected medical results.
