Sifan is a famous monodrama, originating from Mulian. This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is introduction, the plot of Sifan and ancient books. The second chapter is about the organization of folk art, local drama, Mulian drama and scripts. The third chapter focuses on comparing the differences between the two divisions of kun Opera and adapted performing way such as chou playing Chou Sifan and two-person playing Two Sifans. On the other hand, it reveals the international exchange, contributed by Mei Lanfang. The fourth chapter mentions two debates on Sifan in Taiwan. One is about Sifan translated by Lin Yutang and the other one is the final performance of National Taiwan College of Art The department of dance. Although Sifan is a famous drama, the data spread in diverse researching fields. Most of the data are autobiography of the performers, dictating notes or program introduction and the discourses of the senior scholars are from single units. Thus, I organize all sorts of data and do discourse analysis from folk art, local drama, Mulian and kun opera. Hopefully I can make some contribution to the cross-type research on Sifan.
