ABSTRACTThis research is to exam the relationship between the
characte-ristics of visitors and recreational environment by
studying the ch-aracteristics of visitors, the visitors''
preferences to recreational facility setting and the social
background of visitors in the study of Peitou Hot Spring Park.
Therefore, exploring characteristics of the future visitors at
Peitou Hot Spring Park serves as reference of the sequential
planning and management.The study shows that the main motives
that visitors participate recreational activities are closing to
the nature, mental relaxing, sight-seeing and improving health
conditions. Visitors also can be deviated to three motive types:
"family and health", "life-adjusting", "learning and
interacting". "Learning and interacting", which is the main
motive type, also positively relate to every recreational
facility preference at Peitou Hot Spring Park and the visitors
of "Learning and interacting" motive type are more willing to go
to Peitou Hot Spring Park for recreation.In this research, the
visitors have preference for hot spring faci-lity, it shows the
feature of Peitou Hot Spring Park is accepted and welcomed by
visitors. The thirties and forties are the primary visi-tors at
Peitou Hot Spring Park, and the residents at Peitou are the main
source of the visitors.According to the outcome of this
research, it is suggested that the Peitou Hot Spring Park should
be planned and developed in a natural way and provided with
facilities which can help relax visitors and improve health
condition. And the hot spring facilities should be the
cornerstone of the development of Peitou Hot Spring Park.
