Unsturated polyester resins are the most widely used thermosets in the polymeric composites. They offer a good physical and chemicalproperties, are relatively inexpensive, and amendable to most fabricationprocesses. In this study, DSC, static light(SLS), dynamic light scattering(DLS)were used to studythe morphology and curing kinetics of partially curedunsaturated polyester/styrene system and compatibility between polyester and styrene before gelation. We can measure the conversion of resins at the different curing time by DSC, and the micro-gel particle size and itsmolecular weight and compatibility betweenen polyester and styrene were obtained by DLS and SLS. The results of experiment revealed that thevariation of micro-gel particle size and structure in the initial stage of curing. The polymer molecular weight increased with curing time. The compatibility between polyester and styrene monomer decreased with curing time.
