This study attempts to conceptualize and empirically test a model that links different types of strategic orientations and market forces, through integrative ability, to environmental innovative competence and environmental new product performance. This research divides the strategic orientations into market orientation, technology orientation and entrepreneurial orientation. Market forces separate into Demand uncertainty, technological turbulence and competitive intensity. Meanwhile, this study divides the integrative ability into internal integrative ability, external integrative ability and environmental integrative ability. Environmental innovative competence divides into incremental innovative competence and radical innovative competence. Finally, Environmental new product performance separates into firm performance and product performance.
In 225 valid samples, our empirical results indicate the market orientation and technology orientation has apparently positive correlation with incremental innovative compentence. Technology turbulence has apparently positive influence on incremental innovative compentence and radical innovative competence. External integrative ability and environmental integrative ability has apparently positive influence on incremental innovative compentence. Environmental innovative campetence has apparently positive influence on environmental new product performance. The results have significant implication for integrative ability to facilitate environmental innovative compentence and achieve competitive advantages.
Keywords:Environmental innovative competence, Strategic orientation,
