畜牧業為了預防疾病與增進動物產量而使用抗生素,長期施用抗生素造成環境微生物抗藥性增加,而具有抗藥性的微生物或殘留的抗生素等污染物質,透過廢水處理廠之廢水及污泥的排放及施用傳輸到環境當中。為了瞭解廢水處理設施中具有抗藥性之菌種及其抗藥性程度,我們篩選廢水中所存在的菌株進行抗藥性的分析,並作菌種鑑定。抗生素則挑選有添加及沒有添加於飼料中的抗生素,做為抗生素使用與否對微生物抗藥性影響的觀察。
經研究發現廢水中菌株至少具有一種以上的抗生素抗藥性,菌株對於添加在豬隻飼料中之抗生素Tylosin、Chlortetracycline及Lincomycin的抗藥性在90% 以上,而未使用在豬隻飼料之抗生素Penicillin及Neomycin的菌株抗藥性約為40%,顯示抗生素的使用導致環境菌株普遍具有抗藥性。而菌種鑑定的結果顯示具有抗藥性之Bacillus sp. 為放流水之優勢菌種,其將隨放流水之排放進入環境,成為可能散佈抗藥性的微生物族群之一。
