Optical parametric oscillator(OPO) has been widely used as tunable coherence source. In this thesis. An optical parametric oscillator which can be tuned from 1.25μm to 1.55μm is described. An up-converter, made of AgGaSe2 crystal and pumped by the OPO, is used to up-convert the infrared radiation in the wavelength range 10-16μm into near infrared. With this up-converter, a CW CO2 laser(10.6μm) and some IR spectral lines from the potassium vapor, excited by two-photo resonance, were measured. In this thesis, the setup and characteristics of the OPO are described in detail. The results measured with the up-converter are also discussed.
