The sol-gel derived pure barium titanate and zirconium doped barium titanatepowder was prepared by using barium 2-methoxyethoxide precursors, titanium2-methoxyethoxide, and zirconium 2-methoxyethoxide, was examined. The stableclearbrown precursor solution was formed by mixing the 2-methoxyethoxide with2-methoxyethanol in an appropriate ratio. The barium titanate powder was at 130℃derived from a fully hydrolyzedprecursor solution. The zirconium ion could be dissoved in barium titanate atlowtemperature and its lattice constant become larger than that of pure barium. Thecrystallization of barium titanate become better as we increasingof the annealtemperature Barium titanate(BaTiO3) nanocrystalline thin film was prepared by the sol-gelprocess, in which partially hydrolyzed 2-methoxyethoxide precursors were used. The nanocrystalline thin film was successfully prepared by dip coating. Theparticle size of pure barium titanate varied from 10nm to 130nm when annealedfrom 600℃ to 900℃. Ferroelectricity is not observed even annealed at 800℃. The dielectric constant increased with the increasing of the particle size andis stable (constant) with respect to the temperature. The zirconium dopedpowder would inhibit the growth of the particle and its dielectric constant islower than that of pure barium titanate.
