This essay hopes to allow people to comprehend the composition and design model of the luminous environment design in architecture through the establishment of its standard operating procedures. Through HDRI photography with simple gray cards, the lighting and illumination issues of the daily life are explored with their corresponding design methods, so people can have the control of their own mode of living environment. Such as the collection of vocabulary and phrases in our personal lexicons, we must further pay attention on the tone and intonation in order to construct and develop our own languages. At the same time, under this common syntactical structure, anyone can clearly and publicly express his or her discourses and concepts of luminous environment design in architecture; the person can also achieve a cross-disciplinary communication, hoping to achieve the purpose of “the collective wisdom of the masses”.
This study, together with the integration of photographic techniques and architecture luminous environment-related theory and literature, developed an on-site measurement of the environmental luminosity by using gray cards and digital camera. Also, with regression analysis, the analysis and derivation of the research experiment of “the combination of gray card with HDR imaging to obtain partial illumination values” was conducted so as to comprehend the closeness between the factors; then, based on data sample, the correlation with the population was induced, obtaining the regression coefficient and establishing the simulation of the linear regression equations with the available parameters from the measured data.
Based on the contrast of the relevant data and the actual measurement values obtained from the experiment, the correlation coefficient achieved 94% of explanatory power. Furthermore, after the exploration of the experimental error with this method, the final results can verify the feasibility of applying photographic techniques over the measurement of environmental luminosity. Finally, this study applied this research method on the bungalow lighting design in Miaoli.
