The objective of this research was to study the biology and cold storage of an egg parasitoid Telenomus sp. (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) of Andraca bipunctata (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae). This egg parasitoid is the first species discovered at tea garden in Taiwan. A.Bipunctata was reared on tea leaves in laboratory, and the egg masses were collected daily for the parasitoid. The g parasitoid was successively reared for 20 generation without affecting the parasitism rate except the emergence tate and the sex ratio. A pair of the egg parasitoid was seared at various temperatures (15、20、25 and 30C), and the result showed that the developmental duration of Telenomus sp. was 70.6 days at 15C, and 13.9 days at 30C. The fecundity was 159.3 progenies/female at 25C and 1.4 progenies/female at 15C. The sex ratio was not significantly different among temperatures. In mass rearing of the egg parasitoid at various temperatures (15、20、25 and 30C), the result showed that the female longevity was 155.6 days at 15C and 24.5 days at 30C. At 25C the acult parasitoid fed on pure honey had the longest longevity of 58.8 days, while those feeding on distilled water and non-food had 3.2 and 4.1 days, respectively. Also, the female longevity was longer than that of male. Female parasitoid spent 248-590 second to complete the oviposition and would flip its winge and antennae to compete oviposition interference. Anemergence peak was observed at 4:00-6:00 a.m., and the male emerged earlier than the female. Fot the cold storage experiment, it was better to treat the egg of A. bipunctata within 35 days. The result of this study showed valuable methods in rearing and field releasing Telenomus sp. for the biological control of A. bipunctata.
