「後現代建築」以其炫麗的外表及多元的風格，於一九八０年代在歐美蔚為風潮。後現代建築宣稱是因為單調、過於理想化的「現代建築」之缺失而出現。
令人好奇的是，如此風貌的後現代建築，其背後推動的力量，以及影響的因素為何？本論文以「文化」、「政治」及「經濟」三個面向做觀察。
第一章介紹建築從現代到後現代的變化，以及後現代建築之理論與實際。第二章與第三章由「文化」觀點作為出發，由李歐塔、哈伯馬斯、詹明信及布希亞等當代知名學者各自提出對於「現代與後現代」文化的觀點，再以各自觀點出發，提出對建築的看法與批評。
第四章以「政治」角度，舉出英國「新右派」當政時期之例，說明政治力量對「後現代建築」的助力與阻力。也由「經濟」角度，以「後工業社會」理論為出發，歐洲城市發展為佐證，說明當代經濟狀況對後現代建築的影響。
第五章則接續第四章對於經濟力量的探討，以當代博物館從展覽呈現方式的多樣化、商業化發展，到外觀建築的改變，說明了「後現代」從文化到建築、從精神上到物質上，都呈現與以往不同的現象。
結論部分，對前述以「文化」、「政治」及「經濟」三方面觀察後現代建築的結果作一整理與分析，藉以展望更進一步的研究。

The Postmodern architecture once prevailed in Europe and America.
Postmodern architect claimed that postmodern architecture comes because of modern architecture''s notorious defects: monotonous. And postmodern architecture''s various styles and new ideas did become popular for years.
We are curious about: in addition to the beautiful appearance, what are the facts that influence postmodern architecture''s development.
In this dissertation, the author tries to search the answer by analyzing three aspects: culture, politics and economics.
Chapter one first describes the development of architecture from modern to postmodern. Then introduces the theory and reality of postmodern architecture.
Chapter two and chapter three try to revalue modern and postmodern architecture from culture''s view.
In chapter four, the 1980''s ''new-left'' political orientation has been elaborated to example how politics helped and deterred postmodern architecture''s development in British. On the other hand, the author applied Post-industrial theory to explain why postmodern architecture is popular when tourism has been getting more and more important under post-industrial economic status.
Chapter five takes contemporary museum for example, analyzing the changes of the ways of exhibition and the appearance of the museum. Under the postmodern economic status, museum has gone a postmodern way.
Finally, in the conclusion, the author summarizes the cultural, political and economic facts that influence postmodern architecture''s development to expect the coming further studies.
