A total of 38 individuals of Rhacophorus arvalis have been recorded in ten sites at Yunlin、Chiayi and Tainan county during May 2007 and July 2008. The sites differentiate between bamboo woods and non-bamboo woods, and discriminate north and south bank of Beigang River, Puzih River, Zengwen River and Yanshuei River. There are 4 call types (Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ). The call type I is common. The number of note in call type I is 1 to 5, and the mode is 3. Call type I appears repeatedly by 3 to 7 times (61.4%), and the mode is 4. The number of note in call type II is 1 to 5, and the mode is 2 and 3. The repeated number of call type Ⅱ is 1 to 19, most (67.4%) 3 to 10, and the mode is 1, but missing 17 and 18. The number of note in call type Ⅲ were 1 to 27, but missing 25 and 26. Most (81%) were in 7 to 13, and the mode is 11. The number of note in call type Ⅳ were 3 to 12, most (80%) in 5 to 8, and the mode is 11. The note interval of call type Ⅲ is 43 ms to 107 ms, but of call type Ⅳ is 11 ms to 29 ms. The repeated number of call type Ⅳ is 1 to 11, but missing 8 to 10, and the mode is 1. Call type Ⅲ appears no repeatedly.
Call bout is composed of call types. There are 4 major call bouts:[α]、[α][γ]、[α][β] and [α][β] [γ]. [α] was made up of type Ⅲ, [β] was made up of types Ⅲ and Ⅱ, and [γ] was made up of types Ⅲ,Ⅱ and Ⅳ. The diversity of call bouts in non-bamboo woods (Shannon-Weiner index, 1.147) is higher than that in bamboo woods (0.957).
The most diverse call bouts and call types were found in Yanshuei River. The diversity of other 4 river is similar with the diversity of gene. In phylogeographic, the result of call types is similar with the result of gene. But the result of call bouts is not similar.
