The relationship between internationalization and firm performance, there is a large amount of research over the past several years. Unfortunately, there has not got a consistent conclusion. Because of this reason, our research think the relationship between internationalization and firm performance is not direct but indirect. That is to say, the relationship between internationalization and firm performance exist contingency factors. Therefore, This study tries to build a systematic analysis frame which affects the relationship between internationalization and firm performance. And reexamines there relationship again.

This thesis examines Taiwan multinational firms from 2000 to 2005. This thesis use regression and path analysis and have three conclusions: (1) The relationship between internationalization and firm performance is inconsistent because of the contingency factors. (2) This research finds out internationalization speed indeed interference the internationalization and cost efficiency. That is. Internationalization speed exist the mediating effect. (3) This research also finds out cost the efficiency affect the internationalization and firms performance. IF we use internationalization level improve firm performance. First we should improve the cost efficiency of firms, and then uses the cost efficiency improve the performance. In this course, the proper result of internationalization speed that will influence the result of the cost efficiency. That is. Cost efficiency exist the Intervening effect. (4) Further, through the Path Analysis, this research find out the labor cost efficiency affect the performance more than material cost efficiency in Taiwan Multinational firms, so Taiwan Multinational firm’s performance should be created with the labor cost efficiency.
