Today the crossover trend is sweeping across the world in the industries like fashion and art. Individual stylistic characteristics of painters, with its unique fantasies and stunning visual enhancement, are varying wildlier than ever not only in graphic design such as the conversion from 2D objects to 3D, but also in the application of diverse painting styles. Costume accessories are growing increasingly popular with people and becoming the center of attention. And retro fashion provides a unique and refreshing take on clothing, relatively stable in the presentation of artworks, yet more inward and more impressive. An outward manifestation of inner characteristics reflects on the ideology, aesthetics, and spirituality of the time, of ethnic groups, and of individual artists. “Steampunk” is a theme of science fiction inspired by 19th-century science-fiction romanticism, gradually developing throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s. It is, most recognizably, often set in a virtual world of steam power reaching its summit. However, the so-called “Steampunk clothing” features extravagance of sci-fi films and costumes against contemporary reality, which make it a style of fashion that does not fit into everyday outfit. The main aim of this study is to identify key elements of “steampunk” style, blend with functions, present as fashion accessories, and offer a mixture which, both practical and personalized, can add charm and characteristics to individuals with the intention of developing and applying of design commodities transformed from art works blending visual arts and vintage-inspired design. With the theme of Steampunk, this study interprets the researcher’s spiritual exploration and the creation process of this genre in costumes and accessories, surveying its conversion of creating skills and the context of design commodities. First, its aim is to examine the relevant literature of steampunk, learning all about the history of steampunk and the important attires, colours, elements, and forms of this genre, which the researcher uses as the creative base. Also, it uses participant observer in research studies to gain a close familiarity with the appeals of the objects of accessory-wearing studies in the field of accessory design. Finally, through the process of applying steampunk style into accessories in costumes, it explores, in series, the operation and the result of each stages of design. And based on the actual presentation of creation, it gives constructive design feedback according to the marketing strategies, promoting the integrity of probing into steampunk accessories in costumes. As shown in actual examples of creation fusing both art and popular products, the author designs, with unique ideas and creative thinking, a vintage commodity with the air of personality.
