Companies are influenced by traditional Chinese culture and guanxi in Chinese market is one of the significant factors which influence everywhere. When Taiwanese enterprises invest in China, they face the uncertainty of environment and market that they may ask for help from external resources. In this study, we focus on the effects of firm size, core competencies, and the dependence of guanxi when enterprises develop in China.
This research used case study and in-depth interviews with senior managers. We discussed the impact of the firm size, core competencies, and guanxi is lower when the firm size is larger, and the dependence of guanxi is higher when the core competencies are better.
