Data hiding technique is mainly embedding the secret messages using a meaningful media as a cover, that other people cannot detect the existence of the secret messages. Reversible data hiding scheme is meaning that receiver can reduced steganographic media to original cover media after extracting the secret messages from steganographic media. The technology of reversible data hiding has many typical applications, such as related fields of medical and military. Up to now the largest capacity(means the largest capacity of the image quality more than 30 dB) of reversible data hiding scheme using a single steganographic image is about 1 bpp. Some scholars have proposed the reversible data hiding scheme using dual steganographic images because the capacity and image quality of reversible data hiding scheme using a steganographic image is not high. The scheme can used to increase the capacity of secret messages, improve image quality of steganographic images, and achieve a hidden secret communication behavior of secret sharing techniques. Up to now the largest capacity of reversible data hiding scheme using dual steganographic images is about 2 bpp. In this paper, based on dual steganographic images, we propose a novel reversible data hiding scheme. Experimental results show that the (embedding capacity, imperceptibility) performance in terms of (bpp, PSNR) of the proposed method ranges between (1 bpp, 51.1 dB) and (2.5 bpp, 34.8 dB). The maximum capacity (2.5bpp) is higher than that of other methods suggested previously. Further, when the same amount of messages is embedded, the PSNR value of the proposed method is also higher than that of other methods. Experiments also show that the proposed method is capable of withstanding both RS steganalysis and pixel-value difference histogram steganalysis.
