請參考英文摘要‧

The field of managerial learning, specifically in foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in the People’s Republic of China, is a topic which has only recently caught the attention of scholars, despite its inherent importance for the success of foreign businesses in that market. While some researchers have conducted studies on managerial learning in China, the frameworks used for this research vary from author to author. To date, there is, in fact, no standard model for research in this field, but the research conducted by a few scholars─namely Argyris and Schön, Child and Markóczy, Tsang, and Villinger─serves as a starting point for those wishing to probe into this field of study.
This thesis builds primarily on research conducted by the six authors mentioned above to accomplish two goals. First, this thesis provides an analysis of phenomena in managerial learning in US-invested enterprises in China. The phenomena are categorized by the five main factors influencing managerial learning as determined in Tsang, (2001). Second, the research for this thesis includes a first-hand case-study investigation of the situation of managerial learning in four US-invested enterprises in the PRC. The works of Child and Markóczy (1993) and Villinger (1996) serve as a framework for this case-study.
Overall, the results of this investigation shed a light of optimism on the managerial learning situation at US-invested firms in the PRC. The data collected for this study seem to point to a lowering of the traditional barriers to managerial learning in American firms in China as these firms become more and more knowledgeable about doing business in China and the Chinese market and Chinese culture evolve to become more accepting of Western business practices.
