近年來三維立體顯示技術(Three-Dimensional Stereoscopic Display Technology)已經成為重要的技術,而裸眼式立體顯示技術(Auto-stereoscopic Display Technology)具備極佳的便利性,勢必將成為未來主流的發展重點。本篇論文以環狀掃描的二維發光二極體陣列(Light emitting diode arrays)顯示技術為基礎。為了達到消除觀察死角的目的,本系統提出一套由二維發光二極體陣列所分離之非平面發光二極體陣列(Nonplanar light emitting diode arrays)的顯示方式。透過在適當的速度環形旋轉,達到呈現三維立體影像物件且不會產生觀察死角。本篇論文提出一套顯示三維物件的演算法,藉由偵測由頂點所構成的三角面與各個角度顯示平面之掃描交點,並將交點對應顯示在實際空間中。利用兩個層級的指令管線化,將儲存在暫存器中的交點資料輸出並控制二維發光二極體(Light emitting diode)的點亮狀態,並在同時間內讀取儲存在記憶體中的下一筆顯示平面與頂點所構成之三角面的交點資料並暫存在暫存器。本篇論文所提出的演算法及相關硬體機構,可以證明並實現在實際空間中呈現三維物件之技術,並且達成無觀看視角的限制。
The three-dimensional stereoscopic display technology has become an important display technique in recent years. Particularly, the auto-stereoscopic display technology is leading the trend because it is user-friendly and convenient for user to view 3D imageries. The research of this thesis is based on the circular sweeping of two-dimensional LED arrays. For the purpose of eliminating blind spots of viewing, the proposed display technology uses the nonplanar LED arrays which are constructed by a number of linear LED arrays and arranged in a nonplanar manner. When rotating at an adequate speed, the effect of three-dimensional imagery can be obtained without blind spots of observation. The proposed algorithm can detect intersections between sweeping planes and triangular surfaces that constitute the 3D object to be displayed, and will locate the intersection points in three-dimensional physical space. Through the pipeline of two stages, the data of intersection points latched in the register will be outputted to control the state of LEDs, while the data of intersection points next to the current sweeping plane and triangular surfaces will be accessed from memories and latched in the register in the same time period. The proposed algorithm and the associated mechanism are realized and proved to be able to display three-dimensional objects in real space without blind spots.
