In the era of information explosion, one of the people’s daily tasks is to find the required information by using search engines. In this thesis the user behavior and satisfaction of Google search engine for the personnel of some military organization in Taichung are explored by conducting questionnaire, which collects three types of data: basic information, user behavior, and satisfaction. The basic information includes the data of gender, age, position, and education. The user behavior is characterized by using three metrics: use frequency, time duration, and Internet access. And the satisfaction is investigated on four dimensions: content, functionality, operation, and overall satisfaction. After collecting and analyzing the data, the research results are drawn as follows. For the user behavior, Google search engine is used 1 to 2 times per day, and the time duration of using the search engine is less than two hours. Moreover, the time duration for people surfing on Internet is also less than two hours. For the satisfaction on using the search engine, the operation and content of Google search engine are highly satisfied but the information security is with the lowest satisfaction. Moreover, the effectiveness of the data provided by the search engine is evaluated by male and female users, and the results vary widely. For the download speed the users whose age is between 40 and 49 particularly ranked it as very low satisfaction. And military personnel and non-military personnel have very different satisfaction on the effectiveness of the data provided by the search engine. The former ranks it high satisfaction and the other is low. Finally, the preference of the search engine rises as the users’ education degree from high school to master. The future study may include extending the scope of the questionnaire, investigating more factors that may affect the results, as well as exploring the correlation between the factors.
