(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution,TOPSIS)
Purpose-This study aims to apply analytic hierarchy process (AHP) of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) to discuss the key factors that foster the success of current financial electronic payment (e-payment) platforms.
Design/methodology/approach-The main data to be analyzed is from fifteen e-commerce related researches and experts. This study organized the quality measurements into four categories and eleven sub-categories. The AHP in TOPSIS is applied to calculate the weighted averages of all categories and sub-categories to measure the quality of financial e-payment platforms.
Findings-This study finds that “safety quality” is the most emphasized category, “system quality” is the second, “communication quality” is the third, and “service quality” is the last emphasized. The key success factors sequences of pay on-line are trading system security, ease of use and response speed. Applying all of the categories as quality measurements, this study finds that “Third-Party Payment” is the most favorable by users, “Internet Banking” is the second, and “Mobile Payment” is the last.
Research limitations/implications-Insufficient sample, data collection is more difficult. The sample may not represent respondents' attitudes, they are not easy awareness.
Practical implications-Practically, users may apply our proposed approach to understand the pay online system. The third-party payment is the most commonly used way, second is internet banking and mobile payment is the last.
Originality/value-The academic contribution is to propose a mixed method and “contrast type” and have the “name on” questionnaire to survey and discover key factors of e-payment system.
