Dazai Osamu was a literary giant in the literary world of Japan during the period of time. It would be easy to find the brightly feature in the middle-term of Dazai Osamu’s literature. This brightly feature was resulted from the biblical elements mingled by Dazai. The reception of the biblical character in the middle-term of Dazai Osamu’s literature can only be found in these three literary works-“Kakekomi Uttae”, ”Hanamuko” and “Ritsuko to Sadako”, those presenting approach were by directly, metaphorically and indirectly, each separately in the order mentioned. In Dazai’s literature, how the Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and what Judas’s motivation is, and what the image of Jesus is, and how the sisters-Martha and Mary are presented in and what kind of Christianity Dazai expressed is.
In recent investigations, most studies are not focused on the reception of biblical charactor in the middle-term of Dazai Osamu’s literature. In this paper I explore how the reception of the biblical charactors – Jesus, Martha, Mary and Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus and find out what kind of Christianity implied in Dazai’s middle-term literature.
