Throughout the history, a magazine is an indispensable record of cultural history, it vividly recorded and concentrated the spirit of the times. Besides excellent content and beautiful layout, the Logotype, which not only interprets the image of magazines, but also reflects the current design, is also the most representative element of visual design in the whole magazine. Design magazines also play a guiding role in the aesthetic function for other magazines, so discussion over manifestations and trends of the times of design magazines Title modeling that using standard word text is very important.
This study mainly uses KJ method assisted focus group method to analyze and to discuss this topic. This study collected a total of 248 samples of design magazine Titles, including fashion, architecture, animation, product category, interior, visual communication and life aesthetics. The first phase picked 56 samples out of 248 samples using KJ method, analyzed current situation of the Logotype on design magazine Titles. The second stage using literature analysis to infer "font classification trend", combined with the use of the first phase of the current situation summed font design magazine Titles analysis of 7 major categories of use of context and trends. Finally the results from these two stages to the creation and application of the title, look forward to the future reference of related designers.
The results showed that: (1) the evolution of font style is deeply influenced by age and the images are different from different magazines. (2) Design magazines Titles uses fonts in different ways, and there are certain trends in each category. On overall performance, 60.48% Titles language mainly use English, 28.23% in a combination of two kinds of language. 95.6% adopt horizontal way of composing. Magazines of Fashion, product and life aesthetic show a trend of diversification, while magazines of building, animation, interior and visual communication major use modern geometric font of Sans Serif. (3) the phenomenon – the use of "light modern font".
