Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of observation strategy teaching in third graders’ narrative paragraph writing. The study takes the class 3-A students from National Taichung City Happy Elementary school as the research object, adopting the action research method. Observation strategy teaching activities conducts seven weeks, fourteen courses. The observation strategy teaching activities divided into four steps: determining the observation target, selecting the observation method, writing the observation record, and organizing the tissue material. In the teaching of observation methods, this study chooses multi-sensory observation method and point-to-face observation method. The observation objects are general objects and plants, and hope that teaching can improve the writing ability of students' narrative paragraph writing. The research data is mainly based on qualitative data, supplemented by quantitative data. The qualitative data includes pre- and post-test works, works in each unit student, observation record, student interviews, teacher interviews, questionnaire feedback, and reflections. In the notes, the quantitative data includes the evaluation results of the post-test scores and the questionnaires for the questionnaires, and the SPSS20.0 statistical software for statistical analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1.Observation strategy teaching activities can improve the difficulties students encounter in writing courses 2.The observation strategy teaching can improve the third graders’ narrative paragraph writing. 3.Observation strategy teaching can enhance teachers' professional growth and IV
introspection. Finally, relevant recommendations are made for the research results to provide a reference for future teaching and research.
