In this research the performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used for assaying the indicative constituents of paeoniflorin from Paeoniae Radix, cinnamic acid from Cinnamomi Ramulus, glycyrrhizin from Glycyrrhizae Radix, hesperidin from Citri Siensis Exocarpium, baicalin from Scutellariae Radix, geniposide from Gardeniae Fructus, puerarin from Puerariae radix , ferulic acid from Angelicae Sinensis Radix;and for investiga- ting the contents of these indicative constituents in the follow nine Chinese drug formulas: Shyr-Chyuan-Dah-Bu-Tong, Guey-Jy-Jia- Jwu-Fuh-Tong, Guey-Jy-Jia-Fwu-Ling-Tong, Chair-Hwu-Guey-Jy-Tong Ger-Gen-Tong, An-Jong-San, Shu-Ging-Hwo-Shie-Tong, Jia-Wey-Shiau -Yau-San, Bu-Jong-Yih-Chih-Tong. The turnover rates of these indicative constituents were defined as the percentage yields of these indicative constituents in the said Chinese drug formulas, calculated on the basis of their contents in the respective crude drugs.With the informa- tion so obtained, we have estabilished the facile and practical assay methods for the quality control and routine test of these Chinese drug formulas.
