The study is to determine the solubility of three kinds of dyes in pure solvents and various microemulsions using the UV-VIS spectrophotometer. In experiment, we change the type and the amount of cosurfactants such as n-BuOH, iso-BuOH, tert-BuOH, n- PeOH , and the type and the amount of oil phases such as benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, and then, measure their absorption maximum position and their optical density, owing to optical density is proportional to its concentration. We can easily to determine the solubility of dyes in various microemulsions. The shift in absorption maximum in various microemulsions will give us estimation of the approximate location in microemulsions. The maximum solubility of Disperse Orange 1 in n-BuOH/SDS/ Water/Toluene solvent system is 0.0942 g/L. The maximum solubility of Disperse Orange 3 in n-BuOH/SDS/ Water/Toluene, Benzene solvent system is 0.0494 g/L, 0.0491 g/ L. The maximum solubility of .alpha.-Naphthyl Red Hydrochloride in n-BuOH/SDS/ Water/Benzene solvent system is 0.0529 g/L.
