為探討南海與西菲律賓海之水團交換並了解臺灣附近海域之碳酸鹽現況,
本文利用海研一號五個WOCE航次( 第257、262、266、287、316航次) 的
機會搜集南海、西菲律賓海與呂宋海峽海域的碳酸鹽因子,如位溫、鹽度
、酸鹼值、總鹼度及二氧化碳等。根據資料分析顯示,由於受到海底地形
及黑潮主軸的妨礙,從溫鹽及碳酸鹽因子皆可看出,在蘭嶼附近海域存在
一“界面”,以東為西菲律賓海海水,以西則為南海與西菲律賓海的混合
水。南海深層水應具西菲律賓海水深約2200公尺處的海水特性,由滯留時
間、無機碳分解速率及有機碳分解速率計算的結果顯示,二者之pH值、總
鹼度及總二氧化碳的差值分別不應大於0.017 pH單位、3.6ueq/kg及5.6
umol/kg。實測結果證實,此二海水並無明顯的差異。夏季( 第287 航次
)時,整個呂宋海峽海域受到不同程度之黑潮水與北太平洋中層水的影響
。冬季( 第266 航次 )時,受黑潮水影響的區域則局限於北緯19度以北的
海域。然呂宋海峽中,黑潮水“入侵”的程度則以冬季較大。由電位滴定
法與電量法所測得的總二氧化碳量,具有良好的相關性,但二者間仍存在
系統性誤差。總二氧化碳(電位滴定法) = 0.9814 X 總二氧化碳(電量
法) + 63。

In order to understand the water mass exchange between the
South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea, and to study the
dissolved carbonate system in the seas surrounding Taiwan, we
participated in five WOCE cruises (cruise 257, 262, 266, 287,
316)aboard R/V Ocean Researcher 1. The areas studied were the
South China Sea,the West Philippine Sea and the Luzon Strait.
Temperature, Salinity, pH alkalinity and total carbon dioxide
were measured. Our data indicate that because of the
interference of the submarine topography and the Kuroshio
axis, there exists a " front " near the Lan Yu island. East
of it, the water mass belongsto the West Philippine Sea, On
the west is the mixed water of the South China Sea and the West
Philippine Sea. The South China Sea Deep Water should have the
characteri- stics similar to the water at about 2200 m in the
West Phili- ppine Sea. The calculated results from the
residence time, the inorganic carbon dissolution rate and the
organic carbon decomposition rate show that the differences
between these two water masses should be less than 0.017 in
pH, 3.6ueq/kg in alkalinity and 5.6umol/kg in total carbon
dioxide, respec- tively. The measured results show that
there are no dis- tinguishable difference between these
two water masses, implying a short deep water residence time
of approximately 40 yrs. Kuroshio and the North Pacific
Intermediate Water occupy the Luzon Strait in summer(cruise
287). In the winter(cruise 266 ), sea water of Luzon strait
was influenced by Kuroshio only north of 19°N. The " intrusion
" of Kuroshio in winter, however, was stronger than in summer.
Total carbon dioxide obtained by potentiometric titration
correlate well with that obtained by coulometry.Nevertheless,
systematic analytical difference exists between these two
methods: Normalized total carbon dioxide(potentiometric
titration)= 0.9814 X Normalized total carbon dioxide(
coulometry)+63
