The dispersion of contaminants in the sea breeze is calculated by a two-dimensional diffusion model.Three prognostic equations are employed for the concentration,the concentration flux,and covariance of temperature and concentration. The environmental background,which includes the mean wind,the virtual potential temperature,the turbulent kinetic energy and other second moments,is generated from a mesoscale model. The mesoscale model includes budget equations of surface energy and moisture fields,as well as turbulence and radiation parameter- ization. As in a convective boundary layer,for an elevated point source in the sea breeze,the plume concentration centerline descends until it intercepts the ground,then it rebounds and returns to the mixed layer.
