People gradually use the symbolic signs in modern society. In
recently, coming from the international communication more and
more, the trend of sign design is translation verbal sign to
pictorial sign. Industrial safety sign could offer the
important information to the workers and perceived the sign in
short time. Then the workers could react immediately. In
Taiwan, research focus on cognitive approach but not have any
authors research the topics from perception. In this paper, We
discussed that human of sign and the process of perspective
cues. The research tries to solving the question of industrial
safety design and increase the quantity of information
transmission. Finally, and suggests some advice. There are four
experiments in this research. Experiment one, finding the
perspective cues occurring in 170ms and there is different
between non-perspective cue sign and perspective cues sign.
Experiment two, finds the performance of warning sign is worse
than the performance of inhibition sign. Experiment three, we
find there is not any difference between perspective cues and
non-perspective cues in higher cognitive process. In experiment
four, we find subjects prefer to non-perspective signs.
Finally, the paper suggests that designer should understand
characteristics of users and trying to design the safety sign
matching human''s perception and cognition.
