In this paper ,the study on the prediction model for railway noise,prediction on the maximum sound pressure level for railway system in Taiwan area and its corresponding using to calculate the relating equivalent sound pressure level are included.Discussing the above prediction model ,two assumptions that the condition of railway is good enough and the major source of railway noise is coming from the effect of interaction between rail and wheel of vehicle are considered .Therefore,the above assumptions is used to derive the involved theory and a semi-empirical model is also obtained by regressing the actually measured results. Because of different type of vehicle for railway system in Taiwan area,four prediction models for four different types of vehicle, which are tzyh-chyang express, jeu-guang express, fuh- shing express and general trains,are considered.In the other hand,based on the influence of ground,the models for far and near rails as viewed from the measured position should be separated. So that eight different prediction models totally considered in this paper. Finally , the comparison of the all actually measured result with those of prediction shows that an excellent and accurate prediction model has been provided by this paper.
