In this study, a determining method for the sequence of producting different products on the final assembly line is considered for the production smoothing in JIT production system. The sequence of end-items in a mixed final assembly line affects the quantities of work-in-process (WIP) parts. In the thesis, this problem is formulated by 0-1 integer programming to get an optimal solution. The problem solving time will be rapidly increased with the size of the problem and the lower-bound function of A* algorithm for a final assembly line is explored to get the optimal solution more efficiently in time.
