聚醯亞胺為熱穩定性極佳之聚合物,其Tg(glass transition temperat-
ure)通常高於300℃。但是在非線性光學材料的應用上,由於分子鏈不易
移動,使發色基團不易極化拉伸,同時醯亞胺化(imidization)的溫度過
高,易破壞發色基團的結構為其缺點。為改良上述缺點,可藉由寡合物較
易移動(translation)的特性來降低Tg,有利於發色基團的重新排列。依
據上列構想,本研究乃先合成兩種偶氮型之非線性光學發色基團分子,其
中苯環上之拉電子基為硝基,而推電子基分別為氫氧基及胺基。再將此兩
種發色基團接於聚醯亞胺寡合物上形成尾罩型寡合物。正如預期,由結果
顯示,此寡合物的Tg降為 170℃,極化後序列參數亦高達0.68,其非線性
光學應答d33值為0.24-0.46pm/V。然而由於此寡合物分子鏈過短,堆積較
不緊密且尾罩發色基團是以較柔軟之醯胺鍵鍵結,導致其非線性光學熱穩
定性不如預期,d33值經室溫下五天老化降為0.23-0.39 pm/V,約為原來
的84-95﹪。

Polyimides are well known as their high temperature
perfermamce. Their glass transition temperature (Tg) is usually
higher then 300℃ . Although their high Tg would increase the
temperal beh- avior of the second order nonlinear optical (NLO)
properties,it also causes several disadvantages,including
difficulty and deco- mposition of the chromophore structure
during imidization . there are two concepts which were used to
improve the above me- ntioned problems . First , instead of
normal thermal process (amic acid to imide), a chemical process
(amic aicd to isoimide ) was choosed to synthesize polyimide .
Secondly , a chromopho- re end-capped imide oligomer was
synthesized , which showed low- er Tg . The experimental
results showed that the Tg of oligomer is around 170℃ . The
excellent orientational effect was determ- ined from the order
parameter measurement which is in the range of 0.68 . The
second harmonic coefficient of the oligomer film were caculated
by making a comparision of the second harmonic intensity
generated by the film with that by the quartz . Our experiments
revealed the d33 values of 0.24-0.46 pm/V . Unfor- tunately due
to the flexible amide linkage and the loose packed structure of
oligomer , our samples did not show significantly thermal
stability of the d33 values . After five days aging at room
temperature , their responses retained 84-95 ﹪.
