The reliability of a distributed multimedia database system depends on the reliability of its communication links and nodes, as well as on the distribution of its resources, such as media. There is no model available for the reliability analysis for distributed multi-media database systems (DMDB). We developed a reliability model for query operation in DMDB. Based on the model we develope algorithms to improve the reliability for query processes. Our objective is to provide resolving methods for media allocation problems to improve the query and access reliability under the model of distributed multimedia database systems. We also discussed the influences of different percentage of access time's media between algorithms for the media with composite- medium format. This thesis presents some methods for allocating the media of a distributed nultimedia database system with perfect nodes. The algorithms is based on the idea of greedy algorithm.
