The purpose of this study is to analyze metal rolled under 3-roll planetary high reduction mill (HRM) by means of the finite element method with an elastic-plastic model. With finite element software package MARC, this study created a fully three-dimensional model of the rolling process of HRM. To verify the applicability of MARC to the rolling process of HRM, the results of a cylindrical block upsetting problem computed by MARC were compared with other relevant research. After numerical simulation, a deformation and a stress-strain distribution of the rolled metal were discussed. Besides, by using the incremental iterative procedure, the bearing forces of roller in the steady state were calculated.
